Workshop

Build Your Own Analog Style Modular Video Synth

Sold Out

Have you ever wanted to make your own trippy old school visuals with a modular video synthesizer, but never had enough money to buy expensive hardware? In this workshop, Jonathan Thompson (@pointshader) will guide you through the basics of creating your software modular - one where you’ll never have to pay for an extra module! The magic of old school video synthesis lies in the physical properties of a CRT monitor, so after an overview of the underlying physics, the workshop will open into a coding session that will teach you how to emulate a CRT monitor in GLSL, line by line. The rest of the workshop will focus on creating modules for our new system. You can expect to learn about creative uses of TOPs and feedback loops, along with good practices for system architecture using containers and custom parameters.
