We will be holding pre-registration at the venue from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, August 16th. Presenters and participants are strongly encouraged to come to the venue and visit reception in the Chaufferie building (see Summit Access & Location map) during this window to register, pick up your lanyards, say hello etc. This way it does not have to be done the next day when everyone is trying to get to a talk or to a workshop to set up and you’ll be relaxed and ready to roll first thing Friday morning and have time to say hello to all your friends.
For those who are unable to register the 16th registration at Chaufferie will open at 9:00 am.
Please refer to the schedule of find the location of your workshop and then check the map to find the correct room.

Downloading Files / WIFI:
Note that there will be 350 people at the venue and that while there will be WIFI that the downloading of massive files and assets isn’t going to work so come prepared in that regard!
To workshop participants in Polyvalente note that there will be 7 workshops happening simultaneously in this very large space but none-the-less please be as quiet and respectful as possible as noise level will impact other workshops. Thank you!
There will be water coolers stationed throughout the venue as well as a coffee/tea station in the Chaufferie. We ask that you bring your own travel water bottle as well as a travel mug in order to take advantage of these as we aim to minimize unnecessary waste at the Summit and will not be providing disposable cups and glasses.

We do not anticipate a problem in this regard but as you would anywhere else don’t leave things of value unattended.
Personal belongings including computers and luggage may not be stored overnight at the venue.
Summit organizers and the venue will not be held responsible for the loss of personal belongings.
Airbnb is always a good option for charming and inexpensive accommodations in Montreal but there are well-priced hotels we can point to as well. If you are travelling with a group of friends you may consider sharing this expense!
Some economical hotel options are:
Hotel Villa
L'Appartement Hôtel
Trylon Apartment Hotel
Hotel Casabella
Hotel des Arts
Candlewood Suites
If you're looking to spend a little more we also recommend Hotel Zero-1 and the Monville but by all means, explore and find your own sweet spot. Montreal is a wonderful city!
We have a wonderful and generous community but to be clear, the Summit is an inclusive event for all participants and any form of harassment, discrimination and hateful speech will not be tolerated: no sexism, racism, homophobia or transphobia. Thank you!
If you would like to volunteer at the Summit please email events@derivative.ca
Volunteers will be asked to work half-day shifts for the 3 days of the summit in return for a summit pass which will provide access to the venue, to talks and to the evening sessions.
Workshops cannot be assigned to volunteers but if there is space available at a workshop and the volunteer is not working then we will do our best to accommodate. You can give us your top 5 workshop requests and we will try our best to give all volunteers one workshop.
